The Off-Season is the perfect time to give Dauntless, and ourselves, a little TLC.
We are having some maintenance work done in coordination with some exciting upgrades.
There are many projects; I will touch on a few here.
Hauling our 52′ yacht out of the water, for the first time since leaving the factory, is quite exciting
(& a bit unnerving.) However, boat owners haul out for multiple reasons: to work on a stable surface,
to reach areas while dry, and for safety during hurricane season.
The first project is cleaning the bottom & applying new anti-fouling paint.
Although the occasional sound of fish nibbling the barnacles off the bottom of the boat was interesting,
Dauntless will sail faster, and the fiberglass will be better protected with a nice, smooth bottom!
We chose a new color this year. Do you like it?
We also finished a couple of DIY projects. Captain Jim did a bang up job of cleaning and polishing the prop, so it can open and close like the day it was installed. Also, Chef Judy devised and built a paper-towel holder!
Other key projects will make life vastly more spectacular and comfortable on Dauntless.
First, we are installing a watermaker (RO water from seawater). Now your showers can be as long and relaxing as you like! Additionally, we are having solar panels installed, allowing us to take advantage of the constant clear skies to charge our batteries and run our systems. Photos of these exciting improvements to come!
We are quite happy with the service provided from Spice Island Boatyard. They have been professional
& responsive, thus far. We would also like to thank Mariusz, with Sail Grenadines, who is doing much of
