It’s time to set sail! Even as Hurricane Irma is just beginning to clear up over eastern seaboard, the crew of the Dauntless is preparing for their maiden voyage to the Caribbean! Using the plotting software Navionics to chart their course from Annapolis to St. Thomas, USVI, Captain Jim and Chef Judy have planned their trip to last just under a month, stopping at dozens of ports and harbors on the way. The Dauntless has just had her hull painted a beautiful deep blue, and with that finishing touch, Sail Dauntless begins their adventure on October first.
To ensure reliability, all Navionics systems are duplicated, so even if one chart becomes corrupted, the other will hold true. In the case that all electronics fail, Captain Jim has paper charts prepared for every leg of the journey. Additionally, to make sure that the navigation chart is functioning properly, the crew will be “dead reckoning”, calculating their current position by comparing their previous location in respect to their speed and direction, every 30 minutes. They are prepared for anything, and can not wait for you to join us in the BVI’s!
