After Captain Jim had received his insurance certification, he was finally able to take the Dauntless out on the bay on his own. It was Dauntless’ christening sail under her captain, and what a journey it was!! Just like the previous sail on the bay, we encountered sustained winds of 25 mph with gusts up to 30. However, unlike the last time, Captain Jim chose to reef the sails as soon as they were raised, and what a difference it made! Not only were we in complete control in the winds, we even sliced through the 3-5 foot seas with little more than an occasional bump. This is how the Dauntless is designed to ride, and this is how Captain Jim is going to sail her. We know how far we can push her, we know how well she rides, and we know how excellent the Dauntless really is. We couldn’t be more excited to start our journey aboard this beauty of a vessel. Sail Dauntless indeed!
