When we decided to embark on our chartering adventure, the first step was to choose our flagship yacht. Since both of us are Architects, it was important to find a model that fit our ‘designer eye’ with clean lines, contemporary style, a sleek build and a racing feel. However, it was necessary to counter the aesthetic with the functional, for chartering is all about leisure and recreation. With both of us being life-long sailors, we know just how important modern facilities are on a boat of this sort, and just how big of a difference they can make in the overall experience of the sailor.
This led us to the Jeanneau 519. Officially labeled a High Performance Cruiser, this model effortlessly blends the sleek external aesthetic with the modern interior within. With no pesky wires or lines on the deck, there are legions of free space on deck for any activity you choose, be it yoga, fishing, sunning, or anything in between. Even with a 52 foot bow-to-stern length, due to complete cockpit steering control, a single person can easily sail the Dauntless with confidence and security. In a yacht of this size that is an impressive feat, and one that lends more crew availability to our charters. The nature of this yacht’s sleek aesthetic, racing feel, modern facilities and revolutionized steering control leaves the question not as why the Jeanneau 519, but why not?
